Casa Albizia is located at the highest point in the exclusive El Poblado neighborhood in the Andean city of Medellín, Colombia, South America. The house is part of the Vallados de Gratamira II subdivision, which is made up of 15 luxury residences surrounded by lush natural surroundings and the perfect climate that characterizes the City of Eternal Spring. The Colombian architect explains his creative inspiration and architectural focus as the magnificent Albizia Carbonaria tree, a native species, which rises 25 meters above the house: “The house provides an experience of respect and balance with the natural environment: a connection with the essence of life demonstrated through the beauty of harmonious coexistence. The design magnifies the Albizia tree and refers to the flora as a vital source of life.” At the same time, the design seeks to integrate the daunting landscape with grace. It was quite an engineering challenge.
